Biography:
George S. Peek is a senior associate with the firm. He concentrates his practice on civil defense litigation with emphasis in the areas of business and commercial litigation, insurance and products liability litigation and financial services and creditor/debtor litigation. George also assists clients with a wide range of trusts and estates services, including the drafting of estate planning instruments, counseling clients various aspects of estate planning and representing clients in the formal and informal administration of estates.
George has tried numerous court and jury trials across the State of Wisconsin with successful results. George has also represented numerous creditor clients in the Bankruptcy Courts of the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Wisconsin, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In addition, George devotes a significant portion of his practice to assisting clients with a wide variety of trusts and estates services.
Reported Cases:
George served as lead appellate counsel in the case of Kaloti Enterprises, Inc. v. Kellogg Sales Company, et al., a watershed case involving the application of the economic loss doctrine in Wisconsin that was memorialized by the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s published decision: Kaloti Enterprises, Inc. v. Kellogg Sales Co., 283 Wis. 2d 555, 699 N.W.2d 205 (2005).
George is presently serving his second appointed term as a panel arbitrator with the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Panel of Fee Arbitrators. In this capacity he acts as a Wis. Stats. Ch. 788 Arbitrator with respect to fee disputes that have been submitted to this division of the state bar. George has presided over several fee dispute arbitrations in this capacity.
During law school, George served as Articles Editor for the Marquette Law Review, participated in a clinical internship with the State Office of the Public Defender - Milwaukee Criminal Trials Division and served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Patricia S. Curley of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals for District I. In addition, George delivered the valediction at the commencement ceremony for his law school class.
