Biography:
Jeffrey T. Nichols is a shareholder and member of the Board of Directors for Crivello Carlson, S.C. His practice encompasses premises and product liability claims, insurance coverage, construction litigation, general litigation and professional liability. Jeff assists as national counsel for the country’s leading manufacturers of boilers and water heaters as well as for a leading manufacturer in outdoor power equipment. Jeff also works with several multi-national companies on contract disputes, product performance issues and products liability claims.

Jeff has tried numerous cases throughout the state and country. Recently, on the east coast Jeff was co-chair of a trial in New York where plaintiff alleged that a defective product caused a fire resulting in excess of $1 Million in total damages. The federal court jury returned a verdict in favor of the manufacturer finding that the product was not defective.

More recently, in Wyandotte County Kansas a jury found Jeff’s client did not manufacture a defective product which caused a fire severely injuring a 3 year old boy. Plaintiffs were claiming damages in excess of $5 Million due to plaintiff’s severe burns and alleged brain injury.

Closer to home, Jeff has received two recent defense verdicts in auto accidents where his client rear-ended the plaintiff. In one, a Dane County jury found plaintiff’s damages were not caused by the accident. In the other, a Milwaukee County jury found Jeff’s client was not negligent in rear-ending the plaintiff and not responsible for the $60,000 + in medical bills.

Jeff was also a member of the trial team for a manufacturer of one of the world’s largest mobile cranes. That lawsuit arose out of the construction of the Miller Park Baseball Stadium when a crane collapsed resulting in the deaths of three workers. At the conclusion of the trial the court ruled the crane was not defective as a matter of law and a co-defendant was responsible for approximately $100 Million in damages.

Finally, Jeff also has had great success in obtaining summary judgment for his clients. In a case venued in Pennsylvania the court granted summary judgment for Jeff’s client finding that the death of a 19 month old child was not due to a defective product. Similarly, in a case involving misreading of x-rays, a court in Wisconsin ruled that Jeff’s clients did not malpractice in reading the x-rays resulting in plaintiff’s paraplegia.
